Talking points at the usergroup

By 18/06/2013No Comments

We’re all getting a bit excited now about the usergroup on Friday. If you’re coming or if you’re looking to watch online then there are still more details about what’s happening, what we’re talking about and when all of this is going to take place to tell you.

The usergroup is at the Hallam Conference Centre in Marylebone, central London on the 21st of June, this Friday, and it starts at 10am with the meeting commencing at 10.30am.

How to watch: Plenty of folk are coming, but we know that quite a few more will want to watch online. We’ve set up a player page for the webcast, which you can find here. We made a shortlink for it, too: http://bit.ly/piug2013

Taking part online: We’ll be using the hashtag #PIUG13 on Twitter to talk about the event, although we imagine afternoon discussions will also include the Networked Councillor hashtag #NetworkedCllr – but we’ll be running a Coveritlive on the day, to allow people to ask questions and make contributions to the discussions. We’ll share details of that nearer to the day.

The timings: While we’ve not got an official agenda, this should be how things shape up…

10.00 – tea, coffee and pastries

10.30 – Meeting start

The first part of the morning will cover the following topics:-

  • Existing Connect Social Features
  • Future Developments
  • Case Study one: Cheshire West & Chester – (Connect Social) Presentation with input from Damian Beaumont (e-Communications Manager) explaining how they have started introducing new meeting types to get feedback from public.
  • Case study two: Birmingham – (Connect) Presentation and input from Geoff Coleman (media Officer) explaining their use of Coveritlive and Twitter to increase audience and engagement levels.
  • Webcasting Surgery, including Timeline, Widget listing and Twitter.

12.45 – lunch
13.45  – Afternoon round table discussion and presentation on ‘The Networked Councillor’ – open discussion and idea sharing session with presentation from Catherine Howe. We expect this to finish at around 4.30pm to 4.45pm.

That’s it for now. Hope to see you there or online!
